All wrapped up
Envelopped in layers and layers of tape, the Ductcraft furniture pieces transcend their functionality to become sculptural objects. Their surface reminds of thick layers of oil paintings or the textures of papier maché. Both amusing and beautiful, the flashy primary colors catch the eye, whereas the ducttape used for their upholstery become some sort of surprising new fabric.
As often in his creative practice, Rampelotto resorts to a „misuse“ of an industrial good — this „misuse“ allows to explore and expand the aesthetics of ordinary objects. Photo © Gianmaria Gava
