Dolfi

rob the robber

Dolfi pays homage to Adolf Loos’s Knieschwimmer designed in 1906. The genius of Loos lied in his visionary approach to functionality, but also in his very ability to steal. „Immature poets imitate; a mature poet steals“ said T.S. Eliot — and so many after him. Loos, whose style was rooted in the anglosaxon tradition, managed to steal the main idea and the best parts of William Birch’s 1898 Easy Chair.

Rampelotto’s contemporary version is bigger, more abstract and radically simplifyed. „Consider it a design remix—where appropriation meets evolution.“
